The 27-year-old left Heracles Almelo in the summer to join Benevento but he has only managed one goal in nine league appearances this season.

According to Sky Italia, Armenteros will now return to the Eredivisie and spend the rest of the season on loan with Utrecht. The forward has reportedly asked for the deal for personal reasons.

The former Feyenoord, Anderlecht and Willem II star may be a replacement for Zakaria Labyad, who is rumoured to be close to following Erik ten Hag to Ajax.
