Former Sunderland coach Sam Allardyce has recently taken over at Crystal Palace and has reportedly set his sights on Van Aanholt as he looks for a new left-back.
The Black Cats are strapped for cash and may be willing to part with the Dutchman to raise funds for David Moyes to make additions this month. However, if their asking price is too high for Crystal Palace, they may turn their attention to either Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs or Norwich City player Robbie Brady.
Van Aanholt joined Sunderland from Chelsea in 2014 and has made 88 appearances for the club, scoring eight times.
