vn vVan Basten has been absent from the club since the 26th of August after reporting health problems to AZ director Earnest Stewart. The former Netherlands international lost his father in July and had been suffering from palpitations ever since.

On Friday De Telegraaf reported that Van Basten would not be returning to AZ, but that story was denied by the coach and after two days of talks the club have announced that the 49-year-old will return to training on Tuesday.

AZ director Earnest Stewart told the official site, “We are very pleased with the current developments”

“Marco has continuously indicated that after his period of calm that he would like to return to training and that was again shown during the discussions on Sunday and Monday.”

“With the medical staff giving the green light a return was decided.”

At 9am on Tuesday Van Basten will hold a press conference before taking the training session ahead of the game against PEC Zwolle next weekend.
