basten cruyffCruyff has for the past few years acted as an advisor to the Amsterdam club and has implemented a plan which has seen former players take over key role’s at the club, such as Marc Overmars, Frank de Boer and Edwin van der Sar. Cruyff’s idea also has Ajax turning their back on expensive transfers to put all their focus back on raising players from their academy.

However former Ajax great Marco van Basten has slated Cruyff’s revolution as “a big comedy” and does not understand why everyone is following what the Dutch legend is saying.

Writing in his Voetbal International column Van Basten stated, “The Plan of Cruyff is one big comedy.”

“The whole story is a newspaper myth and nobody says anything about it. ‘
