Huub Stevens has denied rumours that Mark van Bommel is a candidate to become the new head coach of Schalke 04.

A report from Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, stated that Van Bommel is a candidate to become the new head coach of Schalke, who sacked David Wagner.
However, Huub Stevens, who is member of the supervisory board at Schalke, has denied these rumours.
He told Fox Sports, “Various candidates have been discussed, but Mark van Bommel was not among them. I also don’t think Van Bommel fits the profile we’re looking for. I don’t think he knows the Bundesliga well enough.”
