PSV Eindhoven boss Mark van Bommel spoke to NOS after the club’s Champions League exit to FC Basel on Tuesday.

PSV went into the second leg 3-2 up but a 2-1 defeat in Switzerland saw Basel progress on away goals.

After the game, Van Bommel said, “We get the best chances, but we don’t win. When you have the game in your hands, you get the best chances. You just don’t use them,

“Whether it was due to attitude? No, I absolutely cannot blame them. They (Basel) shoot at goal three times and score two goals. That was also the case in Eindhoven.”

PSV start their league campaign this weekend and van Bommel has challenged his players to pick themselves up, “We just have to go on. In three days you will play in Enschede. You have to go on. Whether you want to or not, you just have to continue.”
