Mark van Bommel will not step down as PSV Eindhoven head coach despite their poor run of recent form.

It has been a difficult four days for PSV with their 4-0 loss at Sporting on Thursday ending their chances of reaching the Europa League knockout rounds. Then on Sunday, PSV were held to a 1-1 draw at Emmen, which leaves them 13 points off Ajax at the top and seven behind AZ.

At his post game press conference, Van Bommel was asked whether he would step down, “Absolutely not. If you see how those guys are fighting and what I also see at the training. It doesn’t depend on that. “

Van Bommel agreed that his side are losing too many points, “We are losing too many points in a row and now we are playing a draw against Emmen. That is not enough.”

Van Bommel still has confidence that his players can turn it around, “I have every confidence in it. That this team, this extremely young team, can put the football of the first half against Heerenveen and Emmen on the mat in this phase, I think that is very clever. They were perhaps the best two halves of this season. ”
