Since Koeman was sacked by Everton last week, he has been heavily linked with taking over the national team from Dick Advocaat, who is set to step down after the two November friendlies with Scotland and Romania.

Speaking at his press conference on Friday, Giovanni van Bronckhorst stated that he thinks Koeman would be perfect for the job.

He said, ”In my opinion Ronald Koeman would be an ideal candidate to manage the Dutch national team.

”I have had contact with Ronald Koeman this past week and it is never nice to see a manager lose his job.

”He has been so important for Dutch football and Feyenoord in the past and also for me personally.

”I believe that Ronald Koeman has been touted as the number one candidate to manage the Dutch national team for many years. Now it is a case of both sides wanting it to happen. The KNVB and Ronald Koeman must both want this to happen.

”The Dutch national team manager would be a fantastic job for Ronald Koeman.”
