The Scottish champions confirmed the appointment of the former left-back last week, and he faced the media on Monday afternoon.
After roles with Feyenoord and Guangzhou City, Van Bronckhorst said the Rangers position is the job he wanted. He also feels there are similarities between Rangers and Feyenoord.
Van Bronckhorst said, “This is the club I wanted, the club I want to lead and bring success. I have already worked for a big club like Feyenoord. Very large, with a lot of pressure. Rangers and Feyenoord are comparable. Hopefully I can bring similar successes here with my staff and the players.”
The 46-year-old did not hesitate as soon as Rangers made contact, “Last week there was the first contact and it was easy for me. I know the club and know how big Rangers is. We had good conversations and I know the people who work here. I know what the plans are for the club for the coming years and the philosophy and ambition really appeal to me.”
Van Bronckhorst’s first game in charge will come on Thursday in the Europa League against Sparta Prague.
