According to Voetbal International, Joey van den Berg is set to sign a two-year deal with English Championship side Reading FC.

vd bergVI are reporting that the midfielder will soon sign his two-year contract to become one of Jaap Stam’s first signings since becoming new Reading FC boss.

Van den Berg is a free agent after leaving Heerenveen at the end of the season, ending a three-year association with the Frisian club. The 30-year-old was linked with FC Twente, NEC and PEC Zwolle, but he has decided to move abroad.

The combatant midfielder started his career with Heerenveen before having spells with Omniworld, MSC, Go Ahead Eagles, Alcides, and PEC Zwolle before returning to Heerenveen in 2013.
