Keizer was officially confirmed as Peter Bosz’s successor on Saturday, with the former Jong Ajax boss signing a two-year deal.

Van der Sar told the Ajax website, ”From the moment it seemed we would have to look for a new coach, Keizer was the choice of the technical heart of the club.

The position of Ajax manager became available earlier than expected. Then we started the discussions within the Technical Heart and management. And then with the Supervisory Board and of course Marcel himself.

”The talks we had with Marcel Keizer were positive where our feeling for him to become manager of Ajax only grew stronger. He knows the players, club and supports the philosophy of the club. He also showed his qualities last season with what he achieved with Jong Ajax. Playing with a clear style and his varied training methods made the players of Jong Ajax better.”
