According to The Athletic, Manchester United are no longer considering Edwin van der Sar for their Director of Football Affairs position.

Van der Sar has always maintained that he is happy with his director role at Ajax, but that hasn’t stopped his name being linked with Manchester United for years.
However, it now appears that Manchester United have given up on the prospect of appointing van der Sar.
The Athletic is now reporting that the Premier League giants are in talks with three candidates. Darren Fletcher, Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra are all in the running for the position.
