Rafael van der Vaart believes Steven Berghuis should remain at Feyenoord for the time being.

Berghuis has been excellent for Feyenoord this season and has hinted that he would like to move abroad again this summer, despite a failed move to Watford in the past.

Speaking to De Volkskrant, Rafael van der Vaart has advised Berghuis to remain at Feyenoord, where the team is built around him.

He said, “I think he should stay with Feyenoord. He is the man there, the team is built around him. Do you have to go to Everton when you are almost 29 or something? If you don’t play well there twice, they will replace you with a clumsy Englishman and you will be out of the picture, even with Oranje.”

Van der Vaart added, “He can also take that money in a few years time in Turkey or a sandbox. Feyenoord is not a club where they are easy to please. He has now succeeded. Cherish that! Especially now that we are in such uncertain times. ”
