Rafael van der Vaart is a big fan of Joey Veerman and the Heerenveen midfielder reminds him of Italian legend Andrea Pirlo.

Speaking on Studio Voetbal, Van der Vaart said, “I’m exaggerating enormously, but I call him a bit the Pirlo of Heerenveen.
“There is always something happening. Now they are really going to cover him, so he does not come into the picture or at the ball every now and then. But when he touches the ball, something special always comes out of his feet.
“Delicious balls, all tailor-made. It all looks very easy for him. It took no effort for Pirlo either. Everything is so relaxed, off the cuff. He also likes to play football. I like it when a player does that.”
Van der Vaart thinks Veerman can now make the step to any of the top clubs in the Netherlands, “This man can easily join Ajax, PSV or Feyenoord.”
