vd velThe 34-year-old was a free agent after leaving Willem II at the end of the season and had been training with the Scottish Championship side recently. Dundee United have now announced that the forward has signed a one-year-deal.

Speaking to the clubs official website, van der Velden said, “I cannot wait to show my skills to the United fans. The Manager convinced me when I spoke to him that this was the right Club for me. He believes in me and knows what I can bring to United.”

Van der Velden started his career in the youth ranks at Ajax, but left before making his debut to sign for RKC in 2006. Spells with Dordrecht, AZ, NEC and Groningen then followed before the veteran joined Willem II last summer.
