Gregory van der Wiel would like nothing more than to play for Ajax again and would even do it for free.

The 32-year-old right-back is currently without a club since leaving Toronto FC in 2019, and he is back living in Amsterdam.
Speaking to the Ajax website, Van der Wiel, who is officially retired said, “I still have the itch to play football. I don’t do anything at the moment and I live in Amsterdam. I would love nothing more than to play at Ajax again, I would even do it for free.”
Looking back on his career, van der Wiel says he does have some regrets, “An example: I made a choice by staying with Ajax, while I could go to Van Gaal’s Bayern Munich for a record amount. I was a headstrong boy and did not do it then. Now I sometimes think: were you crazy or something? “
Van der Wiel made over 130 appearances for Ajax before spells with PSG, Fenerbahce, Cagliari and Toronto FC.
