The Dutch international has had an excellent season so far in the Premier League, and is being linked with a big-money move away from Southampton in January.
Speaking to The Times, van Dijk said on his future, “Southampton is a very good club for me, it’s a great place to be and I’m glad I’m part of the success.
“Every player in the world has ambitions, me too. I want to get the maximum out of myself. I can still improve in every area, and that takes time. For that you have to play matches at the highest level and with the Dutch national team.”
Manchester City are reportedly ready to bid £50 million for van Dijk in January. On the price tag, he added, “I can not do anything about the amounts you say. That is how it currently works in football. But it means no extra pressure for me, not at all.”
