Georginio Wijnaldum and Virgil van Dijk both featured as Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the Champions League final.

In the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, van Dijk and Wijnaldum both started for Liverpool as they looked to overcome Tottenham, who broke Ajax hearts in the semi-finals.

After only a minute, Liverpool were awarded a penalty for a handball by Moussa Sissoko which Mo Salah scored.

Tottenham pushed for an equaliser but Liverpool defended well with Van Dijk snuffing out any danger at the back.

Substitute Divock Origi then sealed the victory late on with a low strike into the bottom corner.

Liverpool win the trophy for the sixth time, while van Dijk and Wijnaldum become the first Dutchmen to lift the Champions League since Arjen Robben in 2013.
