van p injVan Persie suffered the injury during Manchester United 2-1 loss to Swansea City last weekend and left the Liberty stadium on crutches.

Speaking to a press conference Louis van Gaal stated scans show the injury is “not heavy”, but the former Netherlands boss does not know how long the injury will keep the striker out for.

Van Gaal said, “He is injured. He is the only injured player I have, so we change Carrick for Van Persie.

“He has an ankle problem. I don’t think it’s very heavy but an ankle problem takes a long time. It’s not one week or two weeks but we have to wait and see.”

Van Persie, who has scored ten goals this season, is now a doubt for Netherlands European Championship qualifier with Turkey next month.
