After the failure to qualify for this years European Championships, the KNVB are planning an overhaul of their set-up with an enhanced centre of excellence set to be built in time for this summer. The Independent are reporting that Louis van Gaal is the KNVB’s top choice to oversee the future of the Dutch national team as a technical director.
The former two-time Netherlands coach is currently manager of Premier League giants Manchester United, but has come under severe pressure from their fans to leave this summer, and reports claim Jose Mourinho has been lined up to replace him.
The KNVB are hoping that should Van Gaal leave United, he could be tempted into a return home to influence the future of the Dutch national team.
