Chelsea are hoping to sign Begovic as a replacement for Petr Cech, who has joined Arsenal, and have made Stoke City an offer of £8 million plus a player on loan. Stoke City wanted Ruben Loftus-Cheek but that was refused, and after rejecting Patrick Bamford, Nathaniel Chalobah, and Nathan Ake they have decided Marco van Ginkel is the player they want on loan.
The Dutch midfielder has had a frustrating time since joining Chelsea in 2013, but showed signs of regaining the form he showed at Vitesse when he was loaned to AC Milan last season.
Newcastle United and Sunderland have both been linked with moves to bring in Van Ginkel, but it now appears Stoke City are the favourites.
