Marco van Ginkel does not expect to play for Chelsea next season despite signing a new one-year deal with the club this week.

The midfielder has been out injured for the past two years but is nearing fitness ahead of next season. Last week, Van Ginkel signed a new one year deal with the option of another.

However, van Ginkel does not expect to be playing for Chelsea next season, with another loan deal coming.

He told Ziggo Sport, “Joining Chelsea is a difficult story, I think. It is of course a top club. To hook on that now seems a bit premature. So I will be rented out.”

A return to PSV is an option for the 27-year-old, “We should see that in the coming period. It is now time for a vacation, so take it easy. Of course there is contact with certain clubs, including PSV. I had a good time there. But otherwise it is still quiet.”
