vn ginkel psvThe midfielder spent the six months of last season in Eindhoven, and had been expected to rejoin PSV this summer for another loan period as his chances of first team football with Chelsea looked slim. However, speaking to De Telegraaf van Ginkel has confirmed that he will be undergoing surgery on his knee to fix an irritating problem and he has informed PSV that the chances of another loan deal are over for now.

He said, “I have actually for months been carrying the burden of irritation in my knee.

“That was also true during my loan at PSV last season. Yes, I can actually play and train. Regularly I am without the irritation in the knee, but it also happens regularly and that bothers me.

“Wherever I play, I want to give 100 per cent. Now I do not feel I can give that percentage, at least not myself. That’s why I choose this (time), just to get better”

“I have already informed the club (PSV). If I feel fit again, we can look at it further. Who knows what might happen in January?”
