Former Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk has been named as the new boss of the Saudi Arabian national team.

Van Marwijk has signed a one-year-deal with the nation, with the option of a further year. The 63-year-old’s contract starts on September 1st and he will be tasked with taking Saudi Arabia to the 2018 World Cup.
His first game in charge is against East Timor on the 3rd of September with an away game against Malaysia five days later.
Van Marwijk told VI on his appointment, “This is a great challenge,”
“Saudi Arabia is already working on the qualification for the World Cup of 2018. I hope I can help the team with my experience further towards Russia.”
Mark van Bommel, Adrie Koster, and Roel Coumans will all join van Marwijk as assistants.
