For weeks there has been speculation surrounding the future of the veteran striker, with the 34-year-old deciding whether to remain at Feyenoord next season or hang up his boots.
van Persie said, ”I played today and I am pleased we won. I will be meeting with Giovanni van Bronckhorst this week to discuss my future. I believe that by the end of next week there will be clarity regarding my future at Feyenoord.
”I am delighted at how well I have been received by fans here in the Netherlands. In my opinion, it is really nice to be appreciated by even fans of the opponents in away stadiums that is something different for me than what I experienced when I played in England and Turkey.
”I am enjoying being with the young players and Feyenoord and being part of the squad. They are a great group of lads and it is something that I am enjoying every day.”
