In the end, Feyenoord suffered few problems against mid-table side ADO, but endured a tepid first-half with few chances falling to either side.

Only when Tonny Vilhena headed in a ball from Steven Berghuis could the hosts begin to play more fluently – Jens Toornstra and Karim El Ahmadi missed chances shortly after the opening goal.

It was up to Beghuis to double the advantage, curling in an effort for his twelth goal of the season. Berghuis is now the Eredivisie top goal-scorer with 12 goals, but also added an assist for Toornstra to make it 3-1, either side of a Lex Immers strike for the visitors.

Feyenoord climb into fourth with the win. ADO are ninth.
