Fenerbahce confirmed on their twitter account that they have begun talks with Manchester United and Robin van Persie over a transfer, but the deal is reportedly close to completion.
According to Sky Sports, the 31-year-old underwent the first part of his medical in England on Thursday and will fly to Istanbul on Saturday to sign a four-year-deal with Fenerbahce, who have already agreed a fee with Manchester United. Van Persie could be officially unveiled in Turkey on Monday.
Manchester United signed Van Persie from Arsenal for £24 million in 2012, with the striker going on to net 26 goals in his first season at Old Trafford as they picked up the Premier League title. However since then injuries and a loss of form have meant the all time leading scorer for Netherlands has lost his place in the first team, and is now deemed surplus to requirements by his former national team boss Louis van Gaal.
