Dick Advocaat is set to become the new Oranje head coach within the next few weeks. However, van ‘t Schip believes the KNVB should have looked to Utrecht boss Erik ten Hag.

The soon to be PEC Zwolle head coach told Peptalk, “He has no weight, but I’d drop in Ten Hag.

“He has done well at Go Ahead Eagles and FC Bayern Munich (reserves). He knows Arjen Robben so well. He’s doing it again right at FC Utrecht. He has a different view of football and courage to change. You can put someone besides him for more support. For example, Ruud Gullit. ”

On the current state of the KNVB and their choice of Advocaat, he added,  “I can not follow it, no more. There are so many words made of dirt, I find it all too much. I would wipe the whole lot and not choose Advocaat. Why do you go to someone who has six times been at Orange? Choose someone fresh and new.”
