vanwolfsAfter failing to impress in the Premier League last season, and following Norwich’s relegation, Van Wolfswinkel has moved to France for the upcoming campaign. The deal is initially a loan, but St Etienne have agreed an option to sign the 24-year-old on a permanent basis, if he rediscovers his form.

The former Vitesse, and Utrecht forward joined Norwich last summer for a fee of €10 million from Sporting Lisbon, but only managed to net once in 25 league games.

A move to France will give Van Wolfswinkel the chance to get his career back on track, and stake a claim for a place in the Dutch national team, for whom he has two caps.

St Etienne finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season, which has earned them a place in the Europa League this season. Van Wolfswinkel follows in the path of fellow Dutchmen Johnny Rep, and Kees Rijvers, who both represented St Etienne in their careers.
