The 20-year-old joined PSV from Velez Sarsfield for a fee of €10 million in January of 2018.
The striker has struggled with injuries since and only made one Eredivisie appearance this season. In order to regain fitness, PSV have sanctioned a loan deal to send Romero back to Velez Sarsfield for a year.
PSV still have Luuk de Jong as their first choice striker, while Donyell Malen and Sam Lammers are ahead of Romero in the pecking order.
