The Evening Chronicle state this morning that the Premier League club have intensely scouted the Ajax centre back with the view of a transfer this summer.
Veltman has become a key member of Frank de Boer’s defence since 2012, with the 23-year-old making 57 league appearances, and lifting the Eredivisie trophy twice. Any move by Newcastle United would not be cheap though with Veltman under contract until 2018, and coach Frank de Boer will be determined to keep hold of his defender after Niklas Moisander left this summer.
Newcastle United are not only tracking Veltman according to the local newspaper, but are also hoping to make moves for fellow Dutchmen Bas Dost and Marco van Ginkel this summer. However moves for Jordy Clasie and PSV captain Georginio Wijnaldum are not a priority.
