Ajax has confirmed that defender Joel Veltman suffered a serious injury during Ajax’s 4-1 over VVV-Venlo

Veltman was substituted 38 minutes into what would finish as a 4-1 win for the likely league runners up. Taken off the field by stretcher, fears turned into reality when the club announced Veltman is set to miss not only the final two games of the season, but preparations for next season, and perhaps even some of the 2018-19 campaign.

Exactly what the injury is has not yet been announced, though it is believed to be a serious knee problem. The KNVB even took to sending well wishes out on social media, telling the Ajax and national team defender to feel better.

Ajax finish out their season with ties against AZ Alkmaar and Excelsior before the players will go out on holiday.
