The midfielder was a mainstay in the Oranje squad while with Feyenoord, but since his move to Russia, Vilhena has missed the last two Oranje meet-ups.
Speaking to Voetbal International, Vilhena spoke of his ambition to play at next summer’s European Championships.
He said, “The first time I was not selected, the national coach called. He chose an extra attacker, he told me. Too bad. But when I was not there again … I will just have to show it.
“I do believe that Ronald Koeman is following me here. The images can simply be seen or obtained. Quincy Promes has also succeeded here.
“A European Championship is coming and I want to be there. I hope Koeman gives me that chance. He knows better than anyone what he can do with me. He gave me my debut at Feyenoord once and as a substitute in the Dutch team I was also of value at times. If I keep playing at Krasnodar, I think I’ll be there, even though we have many good midfielders in the Netherlands. “
