The club announced that the midfielder would leave Feyenoord at the end of the season after failing to agree terms on a new contract, and Vilhena had held talks with several other clubs as he looked set to move abroad. A move to Inter Milan broke down over his demands, while Olympiakos, Espanyol and several English clubs showed interest, but it now appears Vilhena has made a u-turn and will remain in Rotterdam.
Voetbal International are reporting that Vilhena has agreed a new two-year contract and will now stay with Feyenoord.
The 21-year-old has made 138 appearances for Feyenoord since making his debut in 2012, scoring 15 times. He made his debut for the Dutch national team earlier this month in the win over Austria.
Great news. Makes sense for both sides. Vilhena can stay were he is comfortable and Feyenoord now doesn’t have to spend millions to replace him. This might mean they now don’;t have to sell Kongolo as was rumored earlier.
