The home side have made a strong start to 2017 and they would have seen the game against Willem II as another perfect opportunity to add another three points. However, the home side struggled to get going in the first half with Adnane Tighadouini’s shot which struck the crossbar the closest they came to breaking the deadlock.
Vitesse continued to dominate after the break but Lewis Baker saw a shot cleared off the line, while Milot Rashica and Nathan both missed decent chances. Willem II barely threatened but in the 85th minute Dico Koppers raced into the box and when Guram Kashia failed to clear the left-back fired the ball into the net. Just before the end Willem II sealed the victory as Obbi Oulare found space outside the box and the forward beat Eloy Room with a nice finish.
Willem II climb to 11th while Vitesse remain 6th.
