Vitesse Arnhem came back from 2-0 down to earn a 2-2 draw against AZ Alkmaar.

The home side without a win in three games lined up with Remko Pasveer in goal instead of Eduardo, who was dropped to the bench by Leonid Slutsky.

After only seven minutes, Pasveer had to pick the ball out of his net after Ron Vlaar headed AZ Alkmaar in front at the back post.

Before the break it was 2-0 for the visitors, who were looking to cement third place ahead of Feyenoord. Teun Koopmeiners fired in a lovely free-kick.

Three minutes into the second half, Matus Bero reduced the deficit for the hosts with a scrappy goal.

Bero thought he had won a penalty in the 70th minute but VAR intervened and a free-kick on the edge of the box was awarded instead. Martin Odegaard’s effort was saved by Marco Bizot before Max Clark’s rebound hit the post.

Seven minutes later the equaliser did come and it was young striker Thomas Buitink who found it. He slotted in a cross to make it four goals in two games and earn a point for his side.

The point means AZ are now four points ahead of Feyenoord in third, while Vitesse remains seventh.
