Vitesse and Sporting Lisbon were locked in negotiations over the midfielder, but came to an agreement last night over a eighteen month loan deal, keeping Labyad in the Eredivisie until the end of the 2014/15 season.
Labyad failed to make a single appearance in Portugal this season, and returns to the Eredivisie where he started his career with PSV Eindhoven.
After the deal was announced, Labyad proclaimed his happiness to return to Netherlands, and get back to playing first team football.
He is quoted in Voetbal International saying, “I am very happy and relieved that I can go back to the Netherlands. The thought that I can be, every day with my friends and family again gives me a warm feeling. I hope to be fit to play quickly and be ready for the team.”
The attacking midfielder, who can also play on the wing, becomes Vitesse’s 7th loan signing, while the club are still said to be interested in Wolfsburg forward Bas Dost.
