The airborne game, which sees Vitesse celebrate the Battle of Arnhem, took place without eight members of the club’s staff who had contracted Covid 19, including head coach Thomas Letsch.
However, Vitesse weren’t affected and they took the lead in the 30th minute with Oussama Tannane netting an excellent free-kick.
Before the break, Sparta were reduced to ten men with Michaël Heylen shown his second yellow card for a reckless challenge on Thomas Bruns.
Vitesse dominated against the ten men but had to wait until the 82nd minute to double their lead with Armando Broja netting his first goal for the club. He reacted quickly after Benjamin van Leer spilled the ball into his path.
Vitesse make it two wins from two, while Sparta Rotterdam suffers their second straight defeat.
