Vitesse Arnhem have their first win of the season after seeing off Willem II 2-0 in Tilburg.

Willem II went into their first home tie of the season full of confidence after the 3-1 win over PEC Zwolle last weekend, while Vitesse held defending champions Ajax.

From the start, Vitesse took control but Jay-Roy Grot, in for the suspended Riechedly Bazoer, missed their first big chance.

Ten minutes into the second half, Vitesse finally broke the deadlock when Bryan Linssen set up Grot to fire in the opener.

In the 70th minute, Vitesse made it 2-0 with Linssen once again the provider, this time for Tim Matavz to net at the back post.

Willem II then brought on Paul Gladon for his debut but the striker could not help his side make a comeback.

The victory moves Vitesse onto four points while Willem II remains on three.
