Managerless Vitesse Arnhem hammered Sparta Rotterdam 7-0 after Michiel Kramer saw red.

After four games without a victory, Vitesse decided to sack Henk Fraser earlier this week with Edward Sturing taking charge until the end of the campaign.

After only two minutes the hosts had the lead as Thulani Serero found the net with a lovely strike. Roy Beerens then doubled the lead on 18 minutes, cutting inside before curling the ball into the net.

Sparta couldn’t find a way into the game and before the half-hour mark, Tim Matavz made it 3-0 after an error by goalkeeper Jannik Huth.

Frustration clearly got the better of Sparta striker Michiel Kramer, who was shown a straight red card on the stroke of half-time for kicking Alexander Buttner in the face. Kramer can expect a lengthy ban from the KNVB and is unlikely to play a part in the rest of the campaign.

Vitesse didn’t ease off in the second half with Bryan Linssen making it 4-0 on the hour before Matavz tapped in his second on 72 minutes. Thomas Bruns made it 6-0 five minutes later before Linssen wrapped up a miserable evening for the visitors before the end.

Vitesse climb temporarily above PEC Zwolle into 6th, while Sparta remain second-bottom and six points from safety.
