A 4-1 loss to VVV at the end of January kickstarted a five game winless run for Vitesse, whose title challenge has fallen apart.
However, after only three minutes, Vitesse had the lead with Lois Openda slotting in a cross from Armando Broja.
However, VVV equalised in the 19th minute when Riechedly Bazoer fouled Torino Hunte and Georgios Giakoumakis netted from the penalty spot. The Greek striker scored all four goals in VVV’s win last month and once again found the net against Vitesse.
Bazoer made up for his foul by restoring Vitesse’s lead just before the hour mark after he broke through the visitor’s defence. Bazoer then set up Sondre Tronstad to make it 3-1 before Broja completed the scoring.
Vitesse’s victory solidifies their place in fifth, while VVV are 15th.
