havenThe Japanese international is out of contract with Vitesse this summer, and has been linked with Feyenoord, along with a number of Bundesliga clubs.

However AD are reporting that the players agent, Ersin Akan will this weekend travel to Italy to draw up a multi-year contract with Rafael Benitez’s Napoli.

Akan told AD,”Napoli has informed me of their interest and their wish to add him to the selection. It looks good, yes.”

Havenaar has been with Vitesse since 2012, with the tall forward netting 27 goals in 92 appearances, whilst also contributing 16 assists. The 26-year-old has 17 caps for Japan, netting four times for his country.

Napoli will finish 3rd in Serie A this season, meaning they will qualify for next season’s Champions League. It remains to be seen how much game time Havenaar would receive at Napoli, should the forward sign, as the club currently have Gonzalo Higuain as their first choice striker.
