Ron Vlaar could have made transfers to Ajax and Tottenham Hotspur during his career, but the now retired defender has no regrets.

Vlaar started his career with AZ Alkmaar and his performances attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Ajax around 2005. However, he joined Feyenoord instead.

Speaking to De Telegraaf, Vlaar has no regrets, “I am proud that I have played for a long time at AZ, Feyenoord and Aston Villa, so that I have been able to build something great everywhere. And no, I do not regret that transfers to Ajax and Tottenham Hotspur did not happen.”

Looking back on his career, Vlaar said,  “I always gave extra gas. I was not the best, but I wanted to work really hard. So I can now say that I got the most out of my career. That gives me a lot of satisfaction, so I can be at peace with the abrupt end.”
