Speaking to RTV Noord-Holland Vlaar has called the failure to reach France next year “A disgrace” and feels its left last summer’s World Cup meaningless.

Vlaar said, “I am very disappointed, because the European Championships was definitely a goal for me. I think we all need to look in the mirror. This is a disgrace.”

“It hurts because we had done something beautiful in Brazil. The Netherlands stood behind us and many people wanted to identify with our team. That is now all in the trash. ”

“As a football person I am ashamed, you actually no longer want to be associated with Oranje. That’s hard. This should be a big lesson, we still have a lot to learn in this country
