The battle between the bottom two in the Eredivisie ended in a draw on Sunday. Haris Vuckic netted late on to make it Twente 1-1 Sparta Rotterdam.

Both teams went into the game in dire need of points but it was FC Twente who dominated from the start and should have been ahead by the break. However, Jannick Huth denied Adam Maher twice, while Haris Vuckic curled one just over the bar.

Sparta barely threatened but their first effort on goal resulted in the opener on 62 minutes. Fred Friday scored it after being set up by substitute Michiel Kramer, who was making his Sparta debut.

Twente poured forward looking for the equaliser which eventually came in the 85th minute as Vuckic.was in the right place to finish from a corner.

Twente almost stole all three points in injury time but Maher’s effort came back off the bar.

The point means Sparta stay bottom and five points from safety while Twente move up to 16th on goal difference.
