VVV-Venlo have appointed Hans de Koning as their new head coach on a deal until the end of the season.

Jay Driessen had been acting as interim head coach after Robert Maaskant was sacked last month. However, Driessen has returned to his role as assistant after VVV announced De Koning’s appointment on Thursday.

De Koning told the club’s website, “I am happy with the opportunity I get to work at VVV-Venlo.

“A new challenge for me at a great club in the Eredivisie. I have been given a clear objective: Safety. We are all going to work towards that.”

The 59-year-old has been out of work since leaving his position with Volendam earlier this year.
