VVV-Venlo came from behind at the break to secure a 2-1 victory at RKC Waalwijk.

RKC Waalwijk went into the game with three newcomers in their starting eleven, Richard van der Venne, Stefan Velkov and Emil Hansson.

The latter opened the scoring in the 15th minute, firing high into the net after a scramble in the box.

VVV Venlo then went looking for the equaliser but the closest they came was a header from Peter van Ooijen that was well saved by Etienne Vaessen.

After the break, the visitors continued to dominate and eventually, Johnathan Opoku netted the equaliser in the 76th minute. The forward’s strike found the net through the legs of an RKC defender.

With eight minutes to go, Oussama Darfalou, who recently joined VVV on loan from Vitesse, scored the winner with a fine finish.

The victory means VVV now sits 15th while RKC are still 18th.
