VVV Venlo need a new head coach after confirming the departure of Maurice Steijn to Al-Wahda.

After five years in charge of VVV, Steijn has now officially departed to sign a one-year deal with Al-Wahda, a club based in Dubai.

Steijn is the replacement for Henk Ten Cate, who left his role in the UAE at the end of the campaign.

VVV general manager Marco Bogers told the club’s website, “The mutual bond that we had was something very special. We worked very closely together and the band is still very close to this day. Of course it is a shame that Maurice is leaving, but we should not deprive him of this opportunity.”

Steijn has also decided to take his son Sem, who is a youth player at VVV, to Al-Wahda.
