VVV-Venlo have sacked head coach Robert Maaskant after a poor start to the season.

VVV-Venlo last recorded a win back in September and at the weekend they were hammered 6-1 by Heracles Almelo.

On Monday, VVV confirmed on their website that Maaskant had been sacked.

CEO Marco Bogers said, “After careful consultation, we had to make the decision to say goodbye to our trainer Robert Maaskant and his assistant Raymond Libregts. The poor sporting results in the recent period are the basis for this.”

Maaskant took charge of the club in the summer after Maurice Steijn left. VVV are 17th and are already out of the KNVB Cup.
