The Greek forward spent the last six months on loan in Poland with Gornik Zabrze. In twelve games, he scored three times and now he has permanently left AEK Athens.
Giakoumakis has signed a contract in Venlo until 2022, but VVV have the option to extend that by a year.
The 25-year-old told the club’s website, “I’ve been following Dutch football all my life. I like the attacking style of play in the Eredivisie. I would like to prove myself in the Netherlands. Not just by scoring, but by being important to the team in whatever way. I am very happy that VVV-Venlo is giving me that opportunity.”
Giakoumakis is the club’s fifth summer signing after Guus Hupperts, Lukas Schmitz, Arjan Swinkels and Roy Gelmi.
